Carmen and Dan's New Edition

October 26th, 2011 and October 29, 2014

Blessings

Since I last posted Lincoln turned 3 and Griffin came into our lives.  I am still trying to get settled into this new world that involves having a toddler and a newborn at the same time.  Currently Lincoln has missed both of the days he goes to school this week because he is sick.  So, in addition to having Griffin rock our world 🙂 I am also dealing with this curve ball.  Add to that the fact that we are having one of the coldest Novembers ever (although for my family in Buffalo; I feel you, that’s a lot of snow) and now Dan needs the car to get to work (can’t ride a motorcycle in this weather) I am housebound with some very demanding lil’ guys in my life.  So, the fact that I am exhausted is a given.  But what also is a given is how amazingly blessed I am.  Adriana comes over every weekend and she adores Linc and Linc adores her right back.  Linc is a smart and energetic young guy who still loves cuddling with his mother and baby brother.  And we were so blessed to have Griffin come into our lives.  Here we are making memories:

MN State Fair 2014

As I get closer and closer to my due date I do not know how often I will update this but I knew that I had to at least post some images from the state fair for everyone.  The state fair was a lot of fun and of course also exhausting!  We tried some new food and we tasted things that were yummy and things we wished we hadn’t wasted any money on.  We saw lots of interesting people at the fair and smelled all kinds of interesting scents as well.  We saw amazing artwork; whether, it was fine art made from blown glass or art made from seeds.  Lincoln went through two shirts in one night at the state fair. It was a first for me where I actually had no more extra clothes for him and we ended up having to buy him a shirt at the fair (actually not as easy as you would expect since it was the last day and close to closing and shirts in his size were in short supply).  It was definitely an experience and we made lots of memories.  We hope those of you in MN had a chance to visit the fair and that those of you who live far away will get to experience for the first time or again.

I love this picture of my silly Linc. It is extra special because he loved the commercial the Science Museum ran of this exhibit and would sing along to it.

This was an unyielding tractor for Lincoln to pull (it also had a trailer attached to it). Since Lincoln is learning to ride on the Strider he is not used to pedals since he is learning balance on a 2 wheeler. We ended up having to cut the tractor ride short at the Little Farm Hands Exhibit.

(The Strider teaches kids to ride a 2 wheeler by teaching them balance and it has no pedals). We ended up having to cut the tractor ride short at the Little Farm Hands Exhibit.

"Et tu Brutt?!?" Lincoln stole my ice cream cone. I was planning on sharing it with him but he had other plans. (If you have ever had a dairy item from the Dairy Building at the MN State fair you will know how deeply of a betrayal this was ;-) ).

The Lincolnator!!!

Wondering what’s going on in Lincoln world?

Lincoln’s vocabulary has expanded by leaps and bounds.  He is communicating more and more everyday.  He also loves to sing his favorite songs.  His current favorites are some classics like “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” and the “Itsy Bitsy Spider”. He also enjoys some new hits like “1,2,3,4” from Sesame Street and lots of different versions of the ABCs. He still is a little shy about talking to others outside of our immediate circle.  Maybe that will change now that Lincoln is going to daycare twice a week.  Lincoln has never had a lovey before but after one day in day care he developed an emotional attachment to the blanket we sent along for his nap.  The drop offs are still pretty horrible but he appears to have a great time there.  He loves the playground area, their cool toys and story time. He is trying to become independent more and more each day.  He tries to put his clothes or pajamas on as well as tries to put on the cap of his spill proof cups. He also tries to walk Clover; which means mom tries to hold the leash without Lincoln noticing while he holds a part of Clover’s leash.  He does not try to walk Snickers because Snickers is a grumpy old man dog and Clover is much more fun to terrorize.  He is still a little wild man who wants to use mom as a jungle gym and loves when dad swings him around.  He likes to throw his body onto the bed and wants to check out the areas in the playground that are much to advanced for his current physical skill set. Yup, he’s our little lovable daredevil.

It is harder and harder to find time to post these so if you want to stay current (and see more pictures and videos) go to:

In the blink of an eye

It was a little over 3 months since I did my last post.  3 months ago I had no idea what kind of a winter Mother Nature had in store for us.  And in 3 months since my last post Lincoln has learned his ABCs (upper case at least). One of his favorite things to do is point out letters – on the TV screen, on a book, on a shirt someone is wearing…  He also can count to ten.  Well, higher than that but in the teens it gets a little interesting.  And, I should say most of the times.  Sometimes he skips one of the numbers on the way to ten.  Oh well, as they say: Rome wasn’t built in a day.  😉  He is also more and more each day just becoming the funniest little guy. He loves to sing and dance.  His musical tastes are not as varied as I would have expected but that’s my fault. He only really hears children’s music or Top 40s (hey, I have to listen to something upbeat when doing housework!).  He has a bit too much daredevil in him for my liking (I have no idea how he learned to summersault) and can be a bit of a miniature monster at times  (man, I don’t remember Adriana being this strong when she was having a tantrum) but add it all up together and you just have this fantastic little boy.

Turning two

Lincoln turned two on October 26th 2013.  It was a cold and blustery day yet we managed to have a great time thanks to all of those who came out to celebrate with us and the awesome fun available at Pinehaven Farm.  We went to Pinehaven farm where Dan made some seriously delicious coffee and apple cider to keep everyone warm.  The fire was pretty awesome and I really missed it later once we no longer had the space. There were smores and hot dogs and pull away day-glow cupcakes!  🙂  There were goats, ponies and sheep to feed and pet (as well as some very scary looking peacocks).  There were mazes, slides, tractor rides, corn shooters and a pumpkin shooter.  A good time was had by all.  Here’s some pictures from Linc’s birthday as well as some other recent pics.  Dan took some really great pictures so be sure to check out his flickr page.
